A moment of silence is being observed at all Betway Premiership and Motsepe Foundation Championship fixtures from Thursday, 17 September 2026, through the weekend. Clubs, players, match officials and supporters are standing together before kick-off as the league uses its platforms to honour the dead.
The gesture is deliberately league-wide rather than confined to a single showpiece fixture. Every ground, every division, every kick-off — a collective acknowledgement of a crisis that reaches far beyond football.

The PSL is not acting alone. The South African Football Association confirmed that a moment of silence would also be observed at Hollywoodbets Super League matches, joining the national outcry against the recent spate of women’s murders.
